Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the United States did not always make the right decisions, therefore, "with all due respect and sympathy for Washington, it is important to be able to keep a sober mind." The diplomat said this during an interview with the YouTube channel of journalist Dmitry Gordon (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist), recalling their mistakes to the States.
"We know that the United States has not always made the right decisions in different years. Remember, the scandal with the "Chain Mail" (radio intelligence station), which was never found, but America convinced everyone that Ukraine had sold the "Chain Mail" to Iraq, chemical weapons in Iraq, which were never found," the Foreign Minister said.
In the same interview, Kuleba admitted that his family left Ukraine after the start of a special Russian military operation. According to him, it happened on the night of February 25.
In 2002, the United States accused Ukraine of supplying Kolchuga radio intelligence stations to Iraq. The US authorities received information about possible supplies from audio recordings made by a former employee of the State Security of Ukraine, Mykola Melnichenko. Ukraine denied all the accusations.
The scandal has greatly worsened Ukraine's relations with the United States, but the American side could not prove the sale of "Chain Mail". Later, the United States admitted that there was no real evidence of the transfer of systems to Iraq, and perhaps there were only intentions.
