In 2012, it paid 鈧?.7 million to buy a building from the Council of Europe. The Parliament has now signed a 鈧?0m contract for the complete renovation of the building plus some landscaping , which will be linked by a footbridge to the Pierre Pflimlin building, which the Parliament already occupies. The Parliament says that once refurbished, the 5,500 sq m building, to be named the V谩clav Havel building, will house 56 staff from the service of the European Ombudsman and 210 staff from the Parliaments administration. In turn that will allow a redistribution of Parliaments staff so as to leave more space in the Louise Weiss and Winston Churchill buildings for MEPs and their staff.
