President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Ambassador to Germany Andrei Melnik after the aggravation of contradictions between the two states over the Siemens turbine, which Germany wants to return to Gazprom to restore the transit of Russian fuel. This is reported by the British newspaper Express.
"Although the official reasons for the dismissal have not been announced, Ukraine is still in a bitter dispute with Germany over a German-made turbine that is under repair in Canada," the article says.
According to journalists, the German authorities are interested in Canada returning the unit to Gazprom for pumping energy to Europe. However, the Ukrainian side believes that this contradicts the anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, Zelensky also dismissed the country's ambassadors to Hungary, Norway, the Czech Republic and India. Ukrainian Ambassador to India Ihor Palikha has also been relieved of his simultaneous posts as Ukraine's ambassador to the Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
